CHARLES CITY- In just three hours a local service organization raised over $6,000 to benefit local, national and international projects.
On Saturday, the Charles City Rotary Club held its 5th annual Rotary Radio Auction. Rotarian Veronica Litterer was one of emcees for the event. She says the club set a record for funds raised at $6,416.
Items with the highest bids include an iPad Mini, Minnesota Twins tickets, and Beats headphones. Funds raised from the auction benefit projects at the local, national, and international level says Litterer.
Litterer says the three-hour time frame of the auction is often chaotic, but fun.
More than 100 items were sold during the auction that KCHA broadcasts live. The Rotary Radio Auction is the largest yearly fundraiser for the club.
